04 / PROJECT QUESTIONS

A clearer
starting point.

UXO risk assessment
and consultancy, explained.

What is a UXO risk assessment?

A UXO risk assessment examines the potential for unexploded ordnance to be present on a site and the risk it could pose to proposed works. Historical evidence, previous land use and the nature of the planned activity inform the assessment and any recommended next steps.

Do I need a UXO desktop study before groundworks?

A desktop study is an early way to investigate potential UXO risk before intrusive works. The right scope depends on the site history, location and planned activity. Share your site boundary and works information so the assessment requirement can be scoped.

What is a UXO watching brief?

A UXO watching brief provides specialist on-site support during agreed intrusive works. Its suitability and scope depend on the risk assessment and method of working. It is not a substitute for every form of survey or risk mitigation.

Can you support contractors and consultants?

The service scope includes support for construction contractors, developers, civil engineers and geotechnical consultants, alongside specialist EOD and UXO subcontracting. Availability and capability are confirmed against each project scope.

What information is needed to scope a project?

Start with the site address or postcode, a site boundary plan, the type and depth of proposed works, your programme and any existing UXO or ground investigation reports. Do not include sensitive project information in this public draft.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Start with your site.
We’ll help define the scope.

Bring the boundary, the proposed works and your programme together in one clear project brief.
