THE RRS GLOSSARY
Why it matters to a project
It may assist terrain mapping and project planning. In a UXO context, it should not be presented as a general method for identifying explosives buried beneath the ground.
PROJECT EXAMPLE
A project uses terrain data to understand access and surface features before planning field activity.
A useful distinction
A detailed terrain model is not the same as a buried-ordnance detection survey.
Questions to ask when it appears in a scope
- What area, activity and decision does this term refer to?
- What evidence or output will the project team receive?
- What limitations need to be carried into the next stage?
