GLOSSARY / Project delivery

Project handover

The transfer of agreed reports, records and other outputs at the conclusion of a task or phase. It communicates what was delivered and any remaining limitations.

THE RRS GLOSSARY

Why it matters to a project

For UXO-related work, the receiving team needs to understand the contracted scope and residual risk. Reports should not be detached from the assumptions or coverage on which they rely.

PROJECT EXAMPLE

A contractor supplies the final report and outstanding findings before another team starts the next phase.

A useful distinction

Handover is not a general statement that an entire site is safe for every future use.

Questions to ask when it appears in a scope

  • What area, activity and decision does this term refer to?
  • What evidence or output will the project team receive?
  • What limitations need to be carried into the next stage?
