THE RRS GLOSSARY
Why it matters to a project
Describing all activity as general groundworks can hide important differences. The risk review should be informed by the actual investigation or construction schedule.
PROJECT EXAMPLE
A trial pit and a deep borehole on the same site may need different consideration.
A useful distinction
Previous surface development does not by itself establish the conditions at every depth.
Questions to ask when it appears in a scope
- What area, activity and decision does this term refer to?
- What evidence or output will the project team receive?
- What limitations need to be carried into the next stage?
