THE RRS GLOSSARY
Why it matters to a project
It is a screening stage. Its conclusions should say whether the evidence is sufficient for the decision being made or whether more detailed work is needed.
PROJECT EXAMPLE
An early assessment informs the budget and investigation programme for a proposed development.
A useful distinction
A recommendation for more research is not confirmation that explosives are present.
Questions to ask when it appears in a scope
- What area, activity and decision does this term refer to?
- What evidence or output will the project team receive?
- What limitations need to be carried into the next stage?
